Where do we start with Moreton House. Firstly we can only describe this house as generous.
Certainly the proportions of the room themselves, the height of ceilings and the amount of reception and bedroom space gives the ambience of very grand living. This beautiful home is in pristine order throughout. It is an absolute credit to the owners who have carried out the scheme of works since I sold it to them some years ago. Frankly, they have transformed the house and to a very high standard. The grand entrance hallway with the original coloured tiles, intricate original oak leaf plaster architrave and the full turn, galleried, mahogany staircase with overhead glazed cupola gives a great impression to anyone entering the house. Each of the rooms now tastefully and subtly decorated to a very high standard, retaining existing features and embellished now with classic touches which are appropriate to the age and style of the house. The Drawing Room has particularly high ceilings and is fitted with pale grey marble Adam style fireplace, further enhanced with a double set of full height French doors to the garden and terrace. The period architrave and picture rail have been restored and retained. The Sitting Room also having a grey marble Adam style fireplace has double aspect views of the front and side gardens. The Formal Dining room on the opposite side of the hallway has the original feature of a period style cast iron fireplace plus original solid wood antique arched top alcove cupboards which have been polished to a honeyed sheen. The Kitchen is particularly spacious and well fitted with modern units with matching dresser style unit and central island workstation all with granite work surfaces. Light and bright it has plenty of space for refectory table and chairs next to the old stone fireplace (now fitted with a woodburner). An archway leads through to a small lobby and the well fitted pantry also giving access down to the extensive racked cellars (space for a lot of wine). Two further doors open to the Inner courtyard with the private terraced area (particularly suitable for al fresco dining) and to the large Utility room which in turn leads to the Garden and the Annex suite. The bedrooms all open from galleried landing above the entrance hallway, brightly lit from the glazed cupola above. The Master Bedroom Suite is a particularly luxurious area with quality, off white, deep pile carpet and a large well fitted walk in wardrobe as well as a spacious ensuite with bath and shower facilities. There are four further bedrooms two of which have walk in wardrobes and smart en-suite facilities each tiled in pale grey marble effect with matching period style edging. The purpose built Annexe is probably the nicest I have ever seen. With access gained via it’s own entrance or through the interconnecting door from the main house (in the Utility area.) There is a neat entrance hallway which leads to the modern fitted Kitchen which has space for table and chairs. There is a charming Sitting Room with quality fireplace and French doors with views to the gardens and giving access to the terrace. There is a large light double bedroom which has an interconnecting door to the Bathroom, This large Bathroom has been designed as a Wet Room with a large walk in shower area with no step or tray so suitable for wheelchair if necessary. Outside there is an immaculate brick built detached gym, neatly carpeted which has space for considerable amount of equipment but alternatively would make a great home office. The Garage block is of timber construction and is fitted with remote control up and over doors. There is a large parking area neatly paved with brick paviers allowing space for approx 6-10 cars. The gardens are well tended and consist of formal areas of large lawns surrounded with established shrubs and specimen trees including a large ginko biloba. There is a large shrubbery with interweaving neatly edged footpaths extensively planted with many varieties of flowering plants and shrubs and space for seating areas. The vegetable patch again is well tended and walled to one side with neat hedging enclosing it to the opposite sides offering a micro climate which gardeners love to have and lending itself for growing even the most tender of plants. There are various outbuildings including a large timber gardeners shed and brick built potting shed and wood store. NB Ramps are installed in parts of the garden for wheel chair use. The house is situated off a small council adopted lane leading to this and two other properties from the A49 with Hereford City approx 5 miles away and a similar distance to Leominster town.

The city of Hereford is more like a large county town than a vibrant city but the huge bonus is the people are friendly and welcoming and more laid back than is generally found in most larger cities. There is a good cinema, leisure facilities and a swimming pool. RAIL TRAVEL Hereford has a railway station with direct trains to major cities including London & Birmingham and Cardiff. MOTORWAY NETWORKS M5 and M6 accessible via M50 near Ross-on-Wye or Ledbury .M4 accessible via A40 close to Newport. The A49 is the route to the North.
