Hilltop Cottage is a gem of a cottage on the top of Linton Ridge (a particularly sought after location) and with such stunning views we can understand why. Beautifully maintained this stone built cottage offers very attractive accommodation. The ‘jewel in the crown’ is the large Sitting Room with the inglenook fireplace which has only recently been fitted with a smart woodburning stove. The deep silled windows overlook the front elevation. The old beams and exposed stonework very much add to the character of the room but the owners with some flair have kept the décor light and bright making a very attractive room that would suit all tastes. The Study is another very attractive room with high vaulted beamed ceilings, exposed stonework, timber wall beams and fitted high ‘plate rack’ shelving it is just full of character. The full height window to the garden really open it up and further windows to the front make it a light interesting room which could also be used for a Dining Room. There is a further reception room which is currently used for Dining which has windows to three aspects and fitted with blinds. The Kitchen has recently been refitted with modern wall and floor units with built in oven and hob units. There are leaded display cabinets and with smart co ordinated tiling this is a Kitchen that no cook could dismiss. A walk in Larder gives a great deal of storage space. Further to this is a Utility room and cloakroom with space for all the machinery we now need washing machine, tumble drier and freezer etc. Upstairs are three double bedrooms two of which have stunning views across to the Welsh Borders and Mountains beyond. These two rooms also have fitted integral wardrobes. There is a good family bathroom with panelled bath and suite which also offers shower facilities. OUTSIDE The cottage is neatly fronted by low stone walling with 5 bar gate and large gravel parking area to the right hand side .The gardens are very attractively landscaped, neat lawns are interspersed with established planting of trees and shrubberies and flower beds. A path leads to the side porch which is the main entrance and continues around to the rear where there is a large brick edged flagstone terrace with feature gravel areas and surrounded with neat wooden balustrade. Indeed plenty of space for entertaining and barbeques on summer evenings. A single garage with access from the lane at the front also offers parking for one car in front of the doors on a neat tarmac area. The garage having electronic shutters opens to a small workshop area at the rear. There are two further wooden storage sheds. NB The flat roof areas have all been recently replaced as has the wiring. IN SUMMARY This is a really charming cottage and well worth consideration. It is in a very attractive location which should be seen to be appreciated - the views are just stunning on the Linton Ridge. The accommodation is exactly what most people are searching for full of character -particularly the inglenook fireplace but the owners have tastefully added modern décor maintaining beautifully light rooms that would be a pleasure to use. The gardens are very pretty but manageable size and carefully landscaped and also offer a super amount of car parking. We think you should view this one, we see a lot and we thought it was a super buy. ACCOMMODATION Overhung porch with pillars. Quarry tiled floor. Either towards Herefordshire & Monmouthshire and the Welsh Hills or on the opposite side to Gloucestershire and the Cotswold’s , Worcestershire and the Malvern Hills. For people who don’t know the area , Linton Ridge is as the name suggests, a long hilltop ridge (actually the watershed between the Severn and Wye river valleys) running out from the delightful village of Linton. The village is picturesque with the old church taking centre stage and pretty period cottages surrounding, with the Ridge and it’s up market homes leading off in an Easterly direction. The village perhaps a mile away from the M50 (Junction 3) gives great access to road networks for anyone needing to get to the cities of Gloucester, Cheltenham or Birmingham etc or locally to the towns of Newent or Ross-on-Wye. The river area below the ‘Prospect’ is a very pleasant place to spend time, particularly in the summer, watching the world go by at one of the riverside pubs, or perhaps the regatta from the boat house. There is a public swimming pool and a modern library. Markets are held on Thursdays and Saturdays in the centre of the town in the old market place. NEWENT is a small market town about 8 miles north west of Gloucester. The town includes a half timbered market house and other listed buildings can be found in the main street It is a thriving, unspoilt market town with a wide range of attractions for the shopper and visitor. Many of the buildings date from the 13th century, and centrepiece of the town is the Old Market Hall, which was built in 1668. The area around Newent has long been known for its wild daffodils which grow naturally in the woods and meadows around the town. SCHOOLS Gorsley has a very good primary school and the area in general boasts several good primary school together with reputable comprehensive schools in Ross and Newent.
