With great foresight this former industrial site was purchased by a local builder and entrepreneur. Realizing the beauty of the surroundings in the heart of the beautiful valley he and his family over many years have simply transformed two  small cottages and the old mill ponds into an absolute haven of tranquillity and beauty for their own personal home. Old Foundry Cottage has been lovingly restored extended and improved to become a grand residence. All of the work throughout is of high quality and no expense has been spared. Oak has been used in abundance from flooring to beams and to the quality staircase.
Almost every room having views of the landscaped gardens and the lakes. Set back and hidden behind security gates it would be easy to pass by this absolute gem of a home and not realize it was there.
The very spacious house (hard to call it a cottage) has been fitted with quality leaded windows and the plate glass door opens to an attractive glazed porch. In turn a heavy studded oak door leads into a very large Reception Room 32ft long with a large feature fireplace. This particularly attractive fireplace was built of dressed local sandstone and currently houses a large wood burning stove. The immediate feeling of warmth pervades the whole area.  A beautifully crafted coloured glass and engraved window denotes the history of the site.
There is plenty of space here to entertain in style and ample room for a large dining table and more. An archway from this living area leads to a TV Snug which still has access to the fireplace. A particularly cosy area to watch the late night film.
The solid oak staircase rising to the upper floor bedrooms and on the opposite side to the raised timber (oak) atrium which gives stunning views of the lake.
The large light Sitting Room has windows to three aspects and again views of the lake and gardens dominate. Another sandstone fireplace features in the room but has been fitted with a gas fire for ease of use. French doors giving access to the gardens and front courtyard.
The Kitchen is a large square shaped room and has all the fittings you could possibly require including integral fridge/freezer, electric deep fat fryer and dishwashing equipment as well as a floorstanding cooker with stainless steel extractor hood. Space also for a breakfast/dining station. A doorway leads through to small light filled lobby and on to the garden.
The staircase leads in two directions. To the right it takes you to the stunning oak framed Atrium with beautiful Cruck or A frame beams and a quality oak floor. Filled with light this is a fabulous room for enjoying the sunshine and of course the view of the woodland and lakes.
The three Bedrooms on the other side of the house are all large doubles each with fitted wardrobes and vanity units. The Master Bedroom at the end of the corridor can become a suite by closing that section of the house. The luxurious Bathroom with massive central bath, double vanity units and large shower cubicle all fitted to a high standard with coordinated tiling and flooring.
On the groundfloor a corridor leads first to the Utility Room and on to another large Bedroom and Shower room. On the other side of the wall is a sweet but tiny cottage and attached lean to wood store. This cottage now gutted is simply used for timber storage but in excellent condition and already fitted with  two cottage windows and a solid wood door it could for  little expense be turned into a Sitting Room/ Kitchen. Perhaps by incorporating and revamping the woodstore as a sunroom/conservatory. This with the existing Bedroom and Bathroom of the main house would create a very spacious annexe or independent let.
However on the opposite side of the house, in the courtyard is a purpose built oak timber frame Guest Lodge/Studio and car port. This lovely building is now used as a home office and Studio/ Sitting Room. The Studio, having fabulous elevated views across the gardens to the lakes. Already a shower room has been installed and should additional income be needed could always be let out to holiday makers who flock to the Wye Valley each year. However for artists or musicians this could make a great hideaway (albeit the views could be distracting). There is also an adjoining double door workshop.
The grounds of approx 5 acres include a reasonable piece of woodland and a paddock at the other end of the lakes. There are several loose boxes and an open barn behind the main house.

IN SUMMARY
Who in their right mind would not want to live in this house, it really has such a lot to offer. It has been built with love, imagination and care. The situation is fabulous in the heart of one of the most scenic valleys in England. The gardens are just amazing with the lakes- adding that extra dimension. Swimming and boating both possible. To become Eco friendly there is the opportunity to create your own electricity supply, certainly the current owners fuel the wood burner from the woodlands now. The guest lodge offers extra income if required or great space for perhaps artists, musicians or even a home office. Further potential for a large annexe might suit a multi generation family.
Just book a viewing we are sure you will love it.

Exterior lighting and security system. Large lawns front the house with a wide selection of specimen trees and shrubs. To the rear is a wide grassy area leading up to the vegetable patch, greenhouse and on to the stables and storage barn. Walking down towards the lakes the grassy area has been landscaped enhancing the lakeside walk with attractive shrubs and more indigenous trees eventually leading to the fenced paddock. A track continues over the piped division over the stream between the two lakes and to the additional gated entrance. The lake itself is well stocked with both rainbow and brown trout and some carp but has never been fished. The central island of the lake has a small duck/moorhen shelter. The stone built race has sluice gates to release excess water.
