A very attractive individual house in a sunny glade of managed natural woodland with views down a very picturesque valley. Grove Cottage, is a quality home in a unique setting. Just a short drive from the village of Tintern you could easily forget the world outside. However this is not an isolated home and a footpath will have you in the village centre in no time at all. The house was originally a crofters cottage but purchased by a carpenter and his builder father it was completely remodeled to a high standard in 1996/7.The wide steps and pretty porch leading to the front door give quite a grand impression to the front of the house and open to a very attractive entrance hallway.  Grove Cottage now offers a very large sitting room virtually 25ft square with French doors which open to the front sun terrace and views to the  valley below. It has a feature fireplace fitted with a real flame propane gas fire.
The large kitchen is fitted with classic cream shaker style units and a Solid fuel stove which currently runs the central heating system. With wood freely available this is a very inexpensive form of environmentally friendly heating but it would be possible to replace with a standard oil boiler if required or perhaps geared to take both.
This large kitchen is open to the dining area and incorporates an original fireplace. Both areas having terracotta coloured ceramic floor tiles.

NB Incidentally wood from the forest floor can be collected and stored for firewood).

A further reception room can also be accessed from the kitchen so could work very well as a formal dining area if required or as the present owners use it for a TV/Study room.
To the side of the house is a long gallery style room that makes a great storage area /boot room which opens to the kitchen and at either end to the car park and to the covered al fresco dining area.
The al fresco eating area is a large open ended terraced area which has a rustic timber roof with pvc corrugated panels making it suitable to use even on wet days for barbeques etc or even for entertaining by candlelight on summer evenings.
Going upstairs there is a large master bedroom with two sets of mirrored wardrobes and two further large bedrooms. The bathroom is very spacious and in our opinion could easily become two which would then facilitate an ensuite for the master bedroom next door.  A further staircase leads to a large attic space.
Outside are considerable outbuildings which include a substantial stone built office suite with power and telephone services and which can be heated from the main house. These neat and attractive rooms (one has independent access) offer marvelous space for carrying out business or home office usage. For a writer or painter this could be a wonderful studio.
However there is a further cabin style outbuilding which also offers even more space. Currently used as a games room/ teenage rumpus area it has a purpose built sauna and shower area as well as a room with French windows to the gardens and a laundry room. The drive from the main road is owned and maintained by the Forestry Commission and is a relatively wide track leading from the village of Tintern. Large wooden gates give access to the private driveway which is neatly covered with gravel and offering car parking space for several vehicles. The formal lawns are neatly surrounded with picket fencing with the remaining gardens managed by two pet sheep. These sheep are maintained by a local vineyard who shears, sprays and houses them each winter.
IN SUMMARY
This is a nature lovers home, absolutely ideal for people who want the peace, privacy and seclusion that the woodlands offer and a wonderful place for children to grow and thrive but no distance at all from the delightful village of Tintern and facilities with the towns of Monmouth and Chepstow a short drive away and of course great access to the M4. The accommodation is large and originally done to a high spec. Some of the décor may need just a little tweaking with sponged walls etc now a fraction dated but then most people will want to put there own stamp on a new home.  The bathroom is massive and subdivided could easily provide an ensuite for the master bedroom with little expense (ie plumbing in situe). The outbuildings offer an amazing amount of opportunities for someone working from home.  We believe this home is an excellent buy and we would recommend it to any client looking in this price range- it should be viewed asap.

TINTERN is a particularly scenic village curving around the beautiful River Wye with a backdrop of wooded hillsides. This village made even more spectacular by the historic riverside Abbey Ruins and the old Abbey buildings including the Abbey Mill. This Mill now converted into a gift shops and tea rooms. There are a small number of Hotels  offering both accommodation and restaurant facilities. There is a doctors surgery and an antique shop as well as several Local Inns. With little fishing boats moared on the river banks it is a truly delightful place to be.
CHEPSTOW
is an historic, walled, border town on the site of an ancient port. Chepstow Castle below the town has a spectacular setting on the cliffs above the River Wye. The town has a thriving shopping centre with all amentites. On the outskirts of the town is the Racecourse which has Conference Centre facilities. The design of the river bridge spanning the Wye has been credited to Rennie but was in fact designed by Rastrick of Bridgenorth.
Both the rivers Wye and the Severn meet near Chepstow and two unique bridges span the wide expanse of water at the Severn estuary - a massive benefit for benefit for motorists using the M48 and M4 who otherwise would need to drive to Gloucester to cross.
MONMOUTH
itself is a thriving town with excellent shopping facilities including three supermarkets in the centre including Waitrose, Somerfield, M& S Food Hall and now Lidl on the outskirts. There is a delightful period cinema which is undergoing a refurbishment programme. The excellent Leisure Centre with swimming pools, gymnasium etc. There is a wide range of eating and drinking venues from interesting coffee shops to French, cuisine
